There are no rankings, no algorithms, and no generated content — every card was filed by a human submitter.

Is it free to add my site?

Filing a card is free. It has always been free and will remain free. There is no premium tier, no featured placement option, and no account required to submit. Fill in the URL, pick the right collection, and submit — the catalog creates the record immediately.

How are sites organized?

By subject collection. Folio42 has 22 collections, from the Restricted Reserve to the Wayfarers Holdings. Each site is assigned to one collection at the time of submission. The Open Stacks is the largest collection and holds entries that do not fit neatly under any specialist heading.

How do I submit a site?

Folio42 is a web directory organized on the model of a library card catalog — 828 individually catalogued web sites, arranged across 22 subject collections, each entry carrying a domain name, a short descriptive annotation, and a direct link to the source. No ranking algorithms, no pay-to-place listings, and no generated summaries: every card was filed by a human submitter and reviewed before it entered the catalog. The 22 collections run from the Restricted Reserve to the Wayfarers Holdings, with the Open Stacks as the largest catch-all drawer holding 189 entries across uncategorized subjects. Adding a site to Folio42 is free: use the submission form at /add.php, select the appropriate collection, and a catalog card is filed immediately. The catalog has been open since its first filing and continues to accept new entries across all 22 subject areas.
